Eric J. Barron named President of The Florida State University
The Florida State University Board of Trustees has selected alumnus Eric J. Barron, director of the National Center for Atmospheric Research, to serve as the university’s 14th president. "I am extremely gratified and honored to return to my alma mater and serve as its next president," Barron said.

The Florida State University ranks 44th among doctorate-granting institutions in terms of number of research doctorates produced in 2008, according to a new report released by the National Science Foundation. The report is based on the Survey of Earned Doctorates (SED).
