Young FSU fans become entrepreneurs with release of new beverage - "Nole Ade"
Seminole fans across the Big Bend area can support their favorite university by enjoying a refreshing, new enhanced water beverage NOLE ADE the brainchild of a group of Tallahassee fifth-graders.
Carrying the official Florida State University trademark on its label, NOLE ADE is the newest entry in the growing enhanced water, fitness water and light sports drink category. Like many enhanced water beverages designed to help replenish vitamins, minerals and electrolytes, NOLE ADE was developed with the active person in mind. A limited edition of 4000 cases will be available for a limited time exclusively in nine counties in the Big Bend in two flavors -- orange and lemon lime. Part of the proceeds will benefit the university.
NOLE ADE is the brainchild of a group of students at Maclay School Maddie Ballard, Kinsey Grant, David Hill Robinson, Carter Torgerson and Tripp Transou all FSU fans who thought FSU deserved a sports drink of its own.
Transou’s parents, Susie and Tripp Transou, own Tri-Eagle Sales, Tallahassee’s distributor of Anheuser-Busch products.
After weeks of research and after-school business plan development meetings, the young entrepreneurs presented their plan for NOLE ADE to Anheuser-Busch. The company immediately recognized the potential behind the idea and gave the young team the go-ahead to present it to FSU officials for approval.
In late November, the team, with the support of their parents and Tri-Eagle Sales, presented their idea to FSU President T.K. Wetherell and his leadership team. The result: The group received conditional approval for a limited test of NOLE ADE working in partnership with FSU, Tri-Eagle Sales and Anheuser-Busch.
"Florida State University is always willing to participate in educational programs that allow students at any level to become better acquainted with the entrepreneurial process," Wetherell said.
The group then worked with Wetherell to gain approval to distribute NOLE ADE from Coca-Cola, which has exclusive rights to use FSU trademarks for non-alcohol beverages but granted an exception for this project. |
