Bowl games feature musical New Year's greetings from FSU Bright Futures students
If you're watching a Florida football team play a Bowl game, expect a musical New Year's greeting from a chorus of Bright Futures music students at Florida State University.
In recognition of the Bright Futures Scholarship program in Florida, the Florida Lottery produced a 30-second television spot featuring FSU music students that will run during Bowl games, including the BCS Championship game, from December 29, 2007, to January 7, 2008.
All students in the spot are Bright Futures scholars. They were selected from 350 vocalists to represent FSU's population.
According to Ileana McClay with The Florida Lottery, "We decided to do a spot that would feature Bright Futures Scholars to showcase the talent that we have in the state. FSU was our first choice because of the proximity and the availability of talent in your wonderful College of Music. This is the first of many that we are planning to do featuring Bright Futures Scholars in all fields of study from other colleges and universities around the state."
The spot is also running at the Lottery's web site, <http://www.flalottery.com/inet/educationBrightFuture.do>.
College of Music Assistant Dean Leo G. Welch, who responded to the Lottery's request for a selection of FSU Bright Futures music scholars, is proud that the university was chosen to kick off the Lottery promotion. "We are pleased that the students featured in the State Lottery's Bright Futures commercial are also outstanding students within the College of Music here at FSU. It is a privilege to be selected to represent Florida State University in this manner."
FSU music students participating in the spot are:
- Adam Whitman, Webster
- Jared Guest, Lake Mary
- Diana Galeano, Lake Worth
- Anka Van-Zyl, New Port Richey
- Matthew Jarvis, Orange Park
- Michael K. Lindsay II, Crestview
|
 |
- Amy Williams, Orlando
- Colleen Jackson, Fruit Cove
- Jake Armstrong, Tallahassee
- Gregory A. Hilliard Jr., Tallahassee
- Nicole Wright, Destin
- Parker Fruehan, Naples
