At FSU this week
  • National researchers visiting living-learning programs
    • National Study of Living-Learning Programs researchers are on campus March 17-19, interviewing residents, faculty and staff concerning the unique residential experience provided by the Social Science and Public Affairs Learning Community in DeGraff Hall; the Women in Math, Science, and Engineering Learning Community in Cawthon Hall; and the Honors Community in Landis Hall. The three programs have been identified as nationally outstanding based on resident responses to email surveys in 2004 and 2007 concerning their on-campus housing experience. FSU is one of only four institutions in the nation whose residential programs have been selected for on-site study by NSLLP.
  • Immigration policy, national security is subject of presentation
    • Emilio Gonzalez, director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, an agency within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, will discuss the relationship between modern U.S. immigration policy and national security during an event March 19, 12:30 p.m. at FSU's College of Law. The event, sponsored by FSU's Center for the Advancement of Human Rights, is the third in the center's "Human Rights and National Security in the 21st Century" lecture series. The lecture will underscore the agency's focused transformation to strengthen national security, improve transparency and enhance fraud detection and customer service.
  • Lecture topic is 'Neutrinos get under your skin'
    • The FSU Department of Physics and the Tallahassee Scientific Society jointly present the 2008 Lannutti Memorial Lecture March 20, 3:30 p.m., at the Richards Undergraduate Physics Laboratory. This year's Lannutti Lecturer will be Boris Kayser, who holds the title of distinguished scientist at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Batavia, Ill.
